Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has made Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster his number one target if Simon Mignolet leaves this summer, according to the Daily Record.

Forster has been mightily impressive for Celtic this season and was in the England squad for the first time, however having been left out of the squad to face Republic of Ireland and Brazil this week a move to the Premier League may appeal to the former Newcastle United youngster.

Di Canio is desperate to keep last season’s Player of the Year Mignolet but a host of high profile European clubs including Inter Milan have been linked with a summer move for the 25 year old Belgian.

Should Mignolet be prized away from the Stadium of Light in the next few months, Forster will be Sunderland’s number one target as Di Canio looks to completely revamp the Black Cats squad ahead of his first full season in the top flight as a manager.
