As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic are set to receive a massive transfer windfall this summer when Virgil van Dijk makes his big move from Southampton.
Van Dijk has been the subject of feverish transfer rumours all season and despite being out of action since January due to an ankle injury, is hitting the headlines once again.
The Scottish Sun reckon Chelsea have won the race to land the Dutch international and are ready to pay a massive £55m to get their man.
That means Celtic are in line to receive £5.5m from the transfer due to a 10% sell on fee clause inserted into the deal that saw the defender move to the Saints two years ago, say the paper.
£5.5m may not seem a lot to followers of English football but for Celtic that could be the difference between signing a player of real quality and not. The Hoops will be on the look out for players to bolster their UEFA Champions League ambitions in the summer with a defender, midfielder and winger likely to be high on the agenda.
The Hoops have an extensive scouting network and have done a great job identifying young talent in recent years to sell on for a large fee after two or three seasons at the club. Now that they are cashing in on sell-on clauses too, their spending power could be taken to the next level when the transfer window opens.
