Chelsea’s record breaking midfielder Frank Lampard hopes to sit down with the club this week to thrash out a contract agreement.
The England international is out of contract this summer and was told he had no future in West London a few months ago but consistent impressive displays may have changed that.
Lampard became Chelsea’s all time record goalscorer with two goals away at Aston Villa yesterday overtaking Bobby Tambling’s 203.
The former West Ham youngster is now confident of sealing a one year deal to keep him at the club.
Lampard hinted that talks were set to begin this week over a new deal and he reiterated his intent to stay at the club.
“We’ve got a huge week coming up and hopefully at the end of it we can sit down and sort things out,” Lampard told The Sun.
“Hopefully that can happen soon.
“It’s great to be part of this exciting young team and I want to stay. I love putting this kit on and want to continue doing that. I hope I’m here next year.”
