Chelsea ace Marco van Ginkel has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan following the arrival of Giannelli Imbula at Stoke City, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.
Van Ginkel has spent the first half of the season on loan with Stoke, but the Potters spent a club record £18.3m to sign Imbula from FC Porto, rendering the Dutchman surplus to requirements at the Britannia Stadium.
The 23-year-old midfielder was already struggling for regular playing time being behind Ibrahim Afellay and Glenn Whelan in the pecking order, and will hope to turn his stuttering career around back in his home country.
PSV are currently on top of the Eredivisie, one point above arch rivals Ajax, and manager Phillip Cocu could use Van Ginkel’s experience in the second half of the campaign, which also includes a Champions League last 16 tie against Atletico Madrid.
Van Ginkel has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring no goals.
