Chelsea have been alerted after the agent of Marco Verratti revealed that he is currently in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a new deal, Express reports.
The 23-year-old is being targeted by the Premier League champions in their efforts to reinforce their squad given their disappointing start to the current campaign.
Verratti is said to have already held talks with the Blues over a potential switch, with a formal bid expected to be made in the near future.
However, the French giants are not keen on seeing their midfield star leave as his agent confirms that talks to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes is currently ongoing.
“He has not received proposals from other clubs. It’s true, we talk with PSG,” he said.
“However, there is no signature yet. We are in the right direction for an extension.”
Former manager Jose Mourinho was said to be a huge fan of the Italy international and was looking to add him to the squad before he was eventually sacked due to his team’s shocking performances in recent months.
The Blues find themselves sitting 15th on the Premier League table with only 18 points after 17 matches, winning only four while registering a further three draws and nine losses.
