The Armenian captain has been in fine form for the Ukrainian champions this season prompting interest from the Premier League pair.
It was reported last week that the 24 year old attacking midfielder was pushing through a summer move away from the impressive Shakhtar who beat Chelsea in this seasons Champions League, knocking the West London club out.
Chelsea or Liverpool will have to fork out £12million if they are to get their man in the summer but the departures of Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez may dictate any potential move.
Mkhitaryan has claimed that he was misquoted in recent interviews regarding a summer move and he is very happy to remain at the Shakhtar until his contract expires.
“I’m a player of Shakhtar and I have a contract until 2015,” Mkhitaryan said.
“I answered a question in a playful way. I have misunderstood or someone has misinterpreted my words.”
