Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira is the subject of a £38million move to Chinese powerhouse Guangzhou Evergrande, according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Teixiera was heavily linked with a move away from the Ukrainian side in recent weeks, but it was Chelsea and Liverpool that were thought to be closing in on the attacking midfielder.
The Brazilian even admitted last month that he wanted to make a move to the English top flight, but a expected transfer failed due to Shakhtar’s high valuation of Teixeira.
However, after the capture of Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid, Guangzhou have now set Teixiera as their next big transfer target.
This will come as a big blow to both the Reds and the Blues, who were hoping to launch another attempt to sign Teixiera at the end of the season.
Teixeira, 26, has been in brilliant form for Shakhtar the past term, making 26 appearances in all competitions and scoring 26 goals.
