Chelsea and Man United blow as £70m target set for new deal

Chelsea and Manchester United target Thomas Muller is expected to extend his stay at Bayern Munich, Express reports.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford during the summer, while the Blues were monitoring his situation ahead of the January window.

When asked about the possibility of extending his stay with the current Bundesliga champions, Muller admitted that things are looking quite positive.

“There is a lot of indication for it and not a lot against it,” he said.

The Germany international will see his current deal expire in 2019, but he it is expected that the forward will continue to remain at the club.

According to German media outlet Kicker, Muller is said to have already agreed a verbal agreement with Bayern in order to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.

He is also seen as a vital member of the squad by club sporting director Matthias Sammer who previously revealed that the player is too important to let go.

The forward has featured in 14 league fixtures and five Champions League matches this term, so far scoring 18 goals.
