Chelsea and Manchester United have hit a massive obstacle in their chase to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan, after he is believed to have reached an agreement over a new deal, Express reports.
The 22-year-old has impressed a number of clubs with his performances so far this season, with the Blues, United, and also Liverpool all said to be preparing a bid around £30million to acquire his services.
However, Inter manager Roberto Mancini could still decide to cash in on the player after he demanded an improved contract, although he is currently being tipped for an extension rather than an exit.
Icardi is believed to be on the verge of penning a new deal to ensure his stay in Italy, with the Nerazzurri hopeful he can commit his future to the club in the coming weeks.
The Argentine striker has already netted 16 goals this season from a total of 28 appearances in all competitions.
