Chelsea looks to have been boosted by speculation that Marquinhos could force an exit from Paris Saint-Germain next summer, Metro reports.
The 21-year-old defender is said to be unhappy with his limited playing time after struggling to overtake Brazil teammates David Luiz and Thiago Silva to the role.
It was even said that the Blues tried to complete a late summer move for his services ahead of deadline day, but saw their £30.6million offer rejected by the Ligue 1 champions.
According to French media outlet Le 10 Sport, Marquinhos is believed to have been told by manager Laurent Blanc that he could leave if he was unhappy with his limited playing time.
The centre-back could be looking to force a move at the end of the current campaign after only registering nine minutes so far this season from his last four matches.
He did manage to feature 42 times in all competitions for his side last term, scoring two goals, but based on how he started, his future looks to still be in doubt.
