Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that Eden Hazard may have a serious injury after their 2-1 loss to Leicester City on Monday, according to reports from the Mirror.
Hazard was left hurt following a challenge from Leicester star Jamie Vardy, with the winger signalling to the bench that he needed to be substituted.
However, only minutes after going off Hazard asked to come back in, before suddenly deciding that he was unable to continue due to an apparent hip problem.
It only got worse as right afterwards, Vardy latched onto a Riyad Mahrez cross to put the Foxes 1-0 up, and in the second half Mahrez bent a curler past Thibaut Courtois which ultimately sealed the victory.
When asked about the injury, Mourinho said:
“He made the decision to come off. So it must be a serious injury.
“His first reaction was ‘I can’t continue’, his second reaction was ‘I want to try’, but after his first step back on the pitch he said he couldn’t. He’s injured clearly.
“He had three different perspectives in a few seconds. It must be something important. He clearly couldn’t do it.”
The Blues are just one point off the relegation zone after losing nine of their 16 league games this season, while Leicester have gone back to the top of the table ahead of a hectic festive schedule.
