Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will not be asking the club for more funds to reinforce the squad during the January window, Daily Star reports.
The current Premier League champions began their title defence in the worst possible way, losing nine out of their first 16 fixtures this season.
They are now struggling to avoid relegation as they find themselves sitting 16th on the table, a point away from Norwich City in 18th place.
Mourinho was believed to make a number of major signings during the upcoming window, but the Portuguese boss has now played down the possibility of that happening.
“I don’t think it is right I go to the board and say these players are not good and we need to spend 50 or 100 or whatever,” he said.
“We have these players and it is with these players we have to go.”
His side could also miss out on a top four finish as they trail fourth place side Manchester United by 14 points following a 2-1 loss to league leaders Leicester City yesterday.
The Blues will now take on 19th place Sunderland this weekend, with the future of the club in serious jeopardy if they don’t come away with all three points.
