Chelsea boss receives one match stadium ban for confrontation with referee

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been handed a one match stadium ban for his comments to referee Jon Moss during their 2-1 defeat to West Ham United last month, according to reports from SkySports.

This means that Mourinho will not be on the bench for the Blues’ clash against Stoke City at the Britannia this weekend, a game which could determine the Portuguese’s future with the current English champions.

Along with the suspension, Mourinho has also been fined £40,000 and still has another suspended stadium ban waiting over his head for his rant after their 3-1 loss to Southampton early in October.

The Blues have been in miserable form since the start of their title-defending campaign, with the club dangling near the relegation zone at 15th place after losing six out of their opening 11 fixtures.

Mourinho’s job is now reportedly under threat just a few months after delivering a Premier League title to the club, with the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Guus Hiddink linked with the role.
