Chelsea boss rules out transfer sale

Juan Mata

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out the chance of the Blues selling Spanish midfielder Juan Mata this summer, as reported by the Metro.

The West London club are set to sign playmaker Willian leaving Mourinho with a number of attacking midfielders to pick from with Eden Hazard and Oscar seemingly first choice.

Mata was an unused sub against Hull last weekend and was brought off with over half an hour to go in the victory of Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

Despite being Chelsea’s best player last season, Mata has failed to convince Mourinho and so faces a battle to gain a starting spot on a regular occasion at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United are interested in taking the Spanish international away from West London but Mourinho is having none of it as the two clubs prepare to face each other at Old Trafford on Monday night.

“He is a player we all like, he is a player we want to keep. We want more quality in the team, not less,’ Mourinho said.

‘Juan is not a player we want to lose.’
