are reporting that Chelsea are moving closer to agreeing a deal to sign Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic.

According to the Italian press, the Blues failed in a £20 million bid earlier this month but it is believed that £25 million will activate the buy-out clause in the Montenegrin’s contract.

Jovetic, just 22, impressed in a struggling Fiorentina side last season scoring 14 league goals in 27 appearances. Now vice-captain in Florence, a hands-off warning was issued earlier this month to fend off any interested parties. However, it is now believed that European Champions Chelsea are ready to meet the contract clause that will allow Jovetic to enter discussions at Stamford Bridge.

It is reported that Juventus and Napoli are also tracking the youngster but Jovetic is thought to want to try his luck away from Serie A should he leave Fiorentina.

If Chelsea sign Jovetic, the spending total at Stamford Bridge will already have hit around £65 million. With rumours abound that Roman Abramovich is ready to invest heavily in revamping his squad,  Marko Marin, Eden Hazard and Stevan Jovetic may be the first three in a long list of stars ready to ply their trade at Chelsea next season.
