Premier League champions Chelsea have confirmed that a fee has been agreed between themselves and Champions League winners Real Madrid for the transfer of striker Alvaro Morata, subject to agreeing personal terms with the player and his medical.

The Blues, who had looked nailed on to sign former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku before Manchester United swooped and landed the Belgian, announced the news just a day after the news that manager Antonio Conte had penned a new deal with the club.

Morata, who had fallen down the pecking order at Madrid under the guise of manager Zinedine Zidane, is expected to be the replacement for compatriot Diego Costa, who is being linked with a move back to Atletico Madrid this summer.

The £34m-rated striker is the fourth Chelsea signing of the summer, after 'keeper Willy Caballero, defender Antonio Rudiger and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko as Conte looks to bolster his ranks ahead of a return to the Champions League this season.
