Chelsea are believed to be plotting a move to bring back Michael Hector from his loan spell at Reading during the January window, Daily Mail reports.
The 23-year-old completed a £4.5million switch from Reading during the summer, but he was immediately sent back to play for his previous employer.
However, with the Blues struggling to pick up results in recent months, manager Jose Mourinho is said to be looking to bring him back earlier than expected given that his is currently on a season-long loan.
Club executive Samrit Thanakanchanasut revealed that the current Premier League champions are already plotting a move to bring him back, but he is planning to keep him until the end of campaign as earlier agreed.
“Chelsea want him back early but I think we’ll retain him as we agreed until the end of the season,” he said.
The Blues signed Hector as well as Papy Djilobodji during the summer after failing to lure top defensive target John Stones from Everton.
Mourinho is looking for alternatives in his backline given that his side only managed to register five clean sheets in all competitions so far this term.
