Chelsea eye £48million Marco Reus alternative

Chelsea are planning a £48million bid for Atletico Madrid’s Koke, that is according to the Express.

Koke, who progressed through Atletico Madrid’s youth set-up before making his first-team debut in 2009, is seen by Jose Mourinho as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus – the German international is also wanted by Real Madrid as well as fellow Premier League rivals Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

At just 22-years-of-age, Koke would join fellow Spanish internationals Diego Costa, Cesar Azpilicueta and Cesc Fabregas, a trio that the former Porto gaffer is looking to build his new Chelsea side around.

The attacking midfielder was instrumental in Atletico Madrid’s title winning campaign last season, making 33 starts for Diego Simeone’s side and scoring six goals and notching 13 assists in the process; he has continued this form in 2014/15 with 12 assists and three goals across La Liga and the Champions League.
