Chelsea star Cesar Azpilicueta has confirmed his long-term future with the club by signing a new five-year contract, Mirror reports.
The defender made the switch to Stamford Bridge in 2012 as a right-back, but played all of last season on the left establishing himself as a fan favourite in the position.
And now the London club have offered the Spaniard a new five-year contract, which he has agreed to.
The 25-year-old was purchased from Marseille for a fee of £7million as cover for Branislav Ivanovic, but Ashley Cole’s poor form last season saw manager Jose Mourinho deploy Azpilicueta on the left to great success.
At the end of the campaign Chelsea had the best defensive record in the Premier League, with Azpilicueta named as the club’s Players’ Player of the Year.
Despite the £20million signing of left-back Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid this summer, Azpilicueta has held on to the position keeping Luis out of the starting line-up.
