Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has stated that he is not interested in leaving the Blues this summer and is looking forward to working under manager-in-waiting Antonio Conte.
The Blues have had a catastrophic campaign and relinquish their Premier League title after underwhelming showings at Stamford Bridge.
Conte is the man that will be charged with restoring the glory days in West London and is expected to be busy in the transfer window this summer.
One of the areas where there remains an element of doubt is in goal, where Thibaut Courtois is being widely tipped with an exit from Chelsea before next season.
As such, Begovic could well be the London club’s long-term number one in 2016-17 but will have to wait and find out what the manager is thinking.
The Bosnian has been playing in place of Courtois recently and has stated that he does not want to leave the Bridge this summer.
“It will be an interesting summer,” Begovic told The Mirror.
“I am not thinking about moving on. When the new manager comes then I hope decisions will be made and then we can go from there.
“What the options are and what will happen, I don’t know. My goal is to be playing at the club and to help contribute. I would love to stay, but sometimes the decision is out of your hands.
“It’s been a good first year, it’s taken me to a different level, which is what I wanted.
“I wanted to play for a really big club and have to cope with the expectation. You learn a lot right away. You are at the top and you have to sink or swim and I thought I acquitted myself pretty well and showed people I can contribute and handle myself at this level.”
