Chelsea in talks to sign Georgia international to solve goalkeeper shortage

Chelsea are said to have made contact with FC Krylia Sovetov Samara star Giorgi Loria as a potential backup to injured goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, according to reports from the Express.

The 29-year-old only completed a move to his current club this year, but is already being linked with an exit to join the Premier League champions.

Courtois recently underwent a surgery on his knee, forcing him to miss at least three more months of football before being able to make a return.

This leaves Blues boss Jose Mourinho with very limited options in regards to his selection as summer signing Asmir Begovic is now the only senior keeper in the squad.

Georgia international manager Kaja Tsjadadze admitted that the English giants have made contact multiple times in their efforts to sign the player.

“There were two days where Chelsea would not stop calling,” he said.

Apart from Loria, Mourinho is also being linked with an emergency loan deal to sign Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes to fill the void.
