Chelsea are looking to sign Sevilla star Yevhen Konoplyanka after scouting the player last week, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Konoplyanka was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League after his contract ran out during the summer, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur keen on his services.
However, the Ukraine international chose to join Sevilla on a free transfer from Dnipro instead, snubbing a move to the English top flight.
But now champions Chelsea are set to make another attempt after manager Jose Mourinho was seen scouting the winger during Spain’s 1-0 win over Ukraine in Kiev.
Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu revealed that he spoke with the Portuguese, stating that Konoplyanka, along with several team-mates, are being targeted by the Blues.
“Mourinho is interested in Yevhen Konoplyanka,” Lucescu said. “I was at Ukraine versus Spain with Mourinho and he is interested in some players.
“Perhaps it is Yarmolenko or Teixeira, if not, then it is Konoplyanka.”
Chelsea haven’t had the best start to the season, only managing to win three league games out of nine and sit 11th on the table.
