Chelsea January signing replaces Falcao in Champions League squad

Chelsea have added Alexandre Pato to their Champions League squad in place of struggling ace Radamel Falcao, Skysports reports.

The former Manchester United loanee is still part of the Premier League squad, but will now be unable to feature against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 as well as any following matches.

Falcao, who joined on loan during the summer, has been sidelined with an injury since October and was close to making a return to Monaco as the Blues looked to offload him during the January window.

He was also linked with a switch to Atletico Madrid and Valencia, but any formal moves failed to materialize as he could still consider a switch to China given that their transfer window is still open.

Pato is currently on loan from Brazilian outfits Corinthians for the remainder of the campaign and could also be given a permanent deal depending on his performance.

Matt Miazga, who joined from New York Red Bulls last month, has also been named in both squads as he looks to impress in the Premier League.
