Chelsea are ready to rival Arsenal in their chase to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Granit Xhaka during the current window, Bild reports via the Express.
The 23-year-old also emerged as a transfer target for rivals Liverpool, with speculation that manager Jurgen Klopp tabled a £37.6million offer for his services earlier this month.
And Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has come out to admit that the club could consider selling the midfielder depending on his performances as well as the offer.
“There are always situations where every club has to think of each option,” he said.
“It [a possible sale of Xhaka] depends partly on our sporting success. It depends on the performances of Granit and of course on the price.
“As of today we are glad that he is with us and hope that he stays for a long time.
“There’s no number [a price threshold] for me.”
He is still contracted with the Bundesliga side until 2019, meaning a bid around the mentioned amount is necessary in order for talks over his exit to begin.
All three Premier League giants are expected to step up their chase for the Switzerland international this month as they look for reinforcements.
Xhaka has already started 15 league matches and another five Champions League games this term, so far scoring three goals while providing one assist.
