Chelsea are considering a move to sign Manchester United target Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli to reinforce their front line, according to reports from the Metro.
The 27-year-old has also been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal after their move for Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was put on hold.
There has been speculation that Higuain has rejected a contract extension with the Serie A outfits as he looks to complete a move to club that can offer him Champions League football.
He currently has a £66million release clause placed on his head, with the club insisting that any interested parties hoping for a deal must meet their price demands.
The Blues are having problems in their attack as Diego Costa is yet to return to full fitness following a reoccurring hamstring injury that has plagued the striker ever since his arrival from Atletico Madrid last summer.
United are also looking to add the Argentina international into their side given that manager Louis van Gaal has very little options in his front line, with Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez his only two senior strikers.
