Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly has come out to reveal that he believes the club will eventually hand John Terry a new contract.
The 35-year-old publically announced that he will not be given a new deal following the 5-1 FA Cup victory over MK Dons this past Sunday.
Terry earlier admitted that he was ready to remain at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of his career on a number of occasions, and his latest revelation could push the board to reconsider their decision.
Desailly believes the club are still thinking about his renewal as talks are likely to continue, with the former defender tipping the centre-back to continue his stay.
“This is a story that has not finished,” he is quoted by The Express.
“The club are saying that they are still negotiating. I think they will probably renew. There is more talking to be done.”
However, despite his desire to retire with Chelsea, a number of sides in China as well as the MLS are keen to add the former England international into their ranks.
Current defensive partner Kurt Zouma has also come out to express his support as he admitted that Terry is irreplaceable.
