Frank Lampard is looking at a £4million bonus if he helps Manchester City beat former club Chelsea to the Premier League title this season, Daily Star reports.
The Blues all-time top scorer has a salary of £190,000-a-week playing for City but if the current champions can retain their crown, Lampard will gain an extra £2million.
The 36-year-old was set to join new MLS team New York City in January but after impressing whenever given the opportunity, the Citizens are considering extending his contract until the end of the season – which will double his bonuses.
Lampard managed to score once again last weekend in Man City’s 3-0 win over Southampton at the Saint Mary’s, earning praise from manager Manuel Pellegrini and the Sky Blues fans.
If he was to extend his stay, the former England international will also be able to make his emotional return to Stamford Bridge to play his beloved Chelsea.
New York City would, however, prefer that their star player joins them at the beginning of the MS season in January rather than June.
