Chelsea are aiming to beat Newcastle United to the signing of Anderlecht star Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Mitrovic has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Swansea also keen on the 20-year-old.
However, the Serbia international wants to continue playing in the Champions League, boosting the Blues’ chances of signing the starlet this summer.
The Premier League champions are still looking for a striker to back-up Diego Costa and loan signing Radamel Falcao in attack, and sees Mitrovic as the perfect candidate.
The youngster will also find settling in at Stamford Bridge easier due to fellow Serbians Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic already part of the squad.
Chelsea are also keen on signing Barcelona forward Pedro, with the Spain international finding regular playing time hard to come by at the Nou Camp.
Mitrovic scored an impressive 27 goals in all competitions last season for Anderlecht.
