Chelsea are leading the race for £20million Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi, who is being seen as Didier Drogba’s replacement, Express reports.
The Argentine striker is currently valued at £30million by Inter, however it has been suggested Chelsea will look to negotiate the fee down to around £20million.
Icardi is also being targeted by the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, however with Drogba set to depart in the summer Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge.
But despite the heavy interest, Icardi has stated he is currently happy at the Guiseppe Meazza.
“I am happy in Milan, as I adapted well to the city and to Inter,” he said. “Without doubt having so many Argentines in the squad helped, although there are fewer of them around this year.
“I chose Inter because they are a top club and am truly happy with my decision. They did everything to get me here.
“Sampdoria was my launch pad into the football that matters. I still have many friends there and know they consider me a good person.”
The former Sampdoria ace has scored an impressive 10 goals in 21 games this season.
