The Uruguayan striker is set to return to pre-season training at Napoli next week but is expected to quickly make the switch to Paris for around £50million.
Mourinho was mad keen on the powerful striker who has impressed in Serie A and in Europe over the past few seasons which has led to numerous clubs declaring an interest.
The Blues were not willing to match PSG’s £50million bid and so have moved on to other targets now with Wayne Rooney topping their list.
Napoli are resigned to losing their main man but will give new boss Rafa Benitez the majority of the money to reinvest in the squad.
“We will know everything about [Edinson] Cavani’s future by the end of July. If not, I’ll smack him!” joked Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
