Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has blasted his side for making a couple of ridiculous errors that resulted in their 2-1 Champions League loss to FC Porto, according to reports from the Mirror.
Mourinho’s return to Porto did not go as planned as the Blues poor start to the season continued, with star players Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic left on the bench for the fixture.
Club captain John Terry was also on the sidelines, but Mourinho claims that despite the loss he was satisfied with his squad’s overall performance.
Mourinho claimed: “I think it was a good performance with two ridiculous mistakes, and sometimes you make that kind of mistake and you are not punished. Tonight we were punished.
“The second goal, for us it’s a ridiculous mistake. We watch dozens and dozens of repititions of Porto taking corners. I thought we were completely ready for that.
“And in a moment when the game was under control and we were preparing a change, to concede that goal. We had another similar mistake when they hit the post, but apart from that I think the performance was balanced.
“Defensively we had no problems and the defenders played well. Two ridiculous mistakes and we were punished for them.”
The Blues will now need to turn their attentions to their game against Southampton at Stamford Bridge this weekend, with the current Premier League champions eight points behind league leaders Manchester United.
No one’s place in the Chelsea starting line-up looks safe at the moment after the Portuguese manager claimed that he is ready to replace any underperforming stars with players from the youth team.
