Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has praised his team’s performance after their 3-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon despite fielding a very rotated squad, Skysports reports.
The Blues finish top of Group G with a total of 14 points from six matches as they ensure qualification into the latter stages of the Champions League.
Mourinho named the squad without some regular faces as Willian, John Terry, Eden Hazard, and Thibaut Courtois were amongst the players being rested.
The Portuguese manager was happy with the output of his players as all they all aimed to prove their worth after being given a chance to feature.
“We did our job, we were professional, we cannot make fun with football, and I’m pleased with my team. It was a good reaction and good for players who are not playing a lot to get more minutes.
“Last year we were close (to winning) and we didn’t have the team playing at such a high level as we have this season, so we can dream. But let’s see if the sharks let us do that, there are a few sharks in the ocean.”
