Chelsea midfielder pens new five-year contract

Chelsea have confirmed that young star Ruben Loftus-Cheek has signed a new contract until 2021 with the club, according to reports from their official website.

Loftus-cheek has been praised by many as a talent for the future after the Englishman made his debut for the Blues last season in a Champions League clash back in December 2014, before then playing against Manchester City in his first Premier League game a month later.

Former boss Jose Mourinho even told journalists that the 20-year-old will play a major part for the first team this term, but has only made five appearances due to the club’s crisis earlier in the campaign.

Despite his limited game time, Loftus-Cheek has a penned a new five-year deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge till 2021.

He said: “I’m delighted to sign a new contract at Chelsea and my focus is on working hard in training every day in order to push on and establish myself in the team. It really means a lot because this shows the club believe in me so I’m really happy.

“The club have done so much for me since I started here as an Under-8 and now I want to repay the faith they’ve shown in me with my performances on the pitch.”

Loftus-Cheek has eight England U-21 caps after impressing in the youth level, winning the FA Youth Cup twice as well as the Under-21 Premier League.
