Chelsea are set to make a £20million offer for Everton defender Seamus Coleman next summer, Metro report.
Coleman burst into the scene last season to become one of the best attacking right-backs in the Premier League, scoring six goals and providing two assists over the course of last year’s campaign.
And it has been claimed that Blues manager Jose Mourinho and his scouts believe Coleman is the perfect player to replace Branislav Ivanovic, who is keen to play as a centre-back.
Chelsea will have to battle with Manchester United for the Irishman, who were interested in the signing Coleman during the summer.
Coleman would be an excellent acquisition for the Red Devils, with Rafael the only natural right-back in manager Louis van Gaal’s first team roster.
The transfer for Coleman could however come down to which team is involved in the UEFA Champions League, as the 25-year-old prefers to join a team in Europe’s elite competition.
Another pull for the Blues is the fact that Coleman joined the Toffees after being scout by Mick Doherty, who now works with Chelsea under Mourinho.
