Chelsea are preparing a bid for Bologna wonderkid Amadou Diawara after previously holding talks with the players’ representatives, according to reports from the Metro.
Diawara was linked with a move away from the Serie A club before the January transfer window, with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur also keen on the young defensive midfielder.
However, it seems that the Blues are close to beating their rivals to the 18-year-old, who has been impressive for Bologna halfway through the Italian campaign.
Spanish source Fichajes reports that the Premier League champions held negotiations with the players’ entourage, and that Chelsea have been encouraged to submit an offer.
Blues midfield duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic have come under some criticism for their poor form this term, and interim manager Guus Hiddink could be looking to add some competition with the signing of Diawara.
The Guinean ace has made 18 appearances in all competitions, making one assist.
