Chelsea are preparing a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes to back-up Asmir Begovic, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Begovic is now currently the Blues’ number-one shot-stopper following a serious knee injury to Thibaut Courtois, and the Bosnia international is also the only senior goalkeeper in manager Jose Mourinho’s roster.
This has therefore forced Mourinho and his staff to start making a list of potential candidates to fill the role, and one of the names is Red Devils ace Valdes.
The Spaniard has been left out in the cold by United boss Louis van Gaal following a bust-up during the summer, and will unlikely feature this season with David de Gea and Sergio Romero ahead of him in the pecking order.
Former England U-19 goalkeeper Jack Blackman is Begovic’s only back-up, but the 21-year-old only has one senior appearance for Middlesbrough against Liverpool when he was out on loan last season.
