Chelsea are prepared to pay the £42.1million asking price to open talks with Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports from the Metro.
The Blues are having a miserable Premier League campaign despite winning the title last season, and are way off the pace with just four wins out of their opening 13 games.
This has seen Jose Mourinho’s men slip to 15th on the table, and their lack of firepower up front has been cited as the reason for their poor form.
To fix their problem, Spanish source Fichajes has claimed that club owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to bring in some new faces to reinvigorate the squad, with Aubameyang heavily linked with the move.
Dortmund slapped a massive £42.1million price tag on the 24-year-old last week in an attempt to ward of Chelsea’s interest, but now it seems that the London club are prepared to pay the fee to bring him over to Stamford Bridge this January.
Aubameyang has been on incredible goalscoring form this season, scoring 23 goals in just 21 games in all competitions.
