Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified Southampton’s Victor Wanyama as a potential January transfer target, according to The Daily Star.
The Kenyan midfielder has been mightily impressive over the last two seasons at St Mary’s for the Saints and was heavily linked with a reunion with former boss Mauricio Pochettino over the summer.
However, despite a potential move to White Hart Lane falling through, the African battler is still believed to have his eye on the exit door.
Chelsea have started the new campaign in underwhelming fashion, with midfield dynamo Nemanja Matic one of a host of players not to be performing at their best.
Cesc Fabregas has also not be played to his best in the centre of midfield and looks eager to push forward into the number ten role.
Mourinho has reportedly decided that a move for Wanyama would bolster the Blues’ options in the boiler room and is eyeing up a January raid for the former Celtic midfielder.
