Chelsea are readying an offer to sign Bayern Munich star Javi Martinez in the January transfer window, according to reports from the Metro.
Martinez was signed by Bayern in the summer of 2012, and played a huge part for the Bundesliga club the past few seasons.
However, Martinez has been used in a rotational system by manager Pep Guardiola, with only Jerome Boateng a guaranteed starter in the centre-back role.
And ahead of Euro 2016, the Spain international could leave for more regular playing time in order to compete with the likes of Real Madrid ace Sergio Ramos and Barcelona’s Gerard Pique for a starting berth in France.
According to Italian source Calciomercato, Blues manager Guus Hiddink is a big fan of Martinez, and is planning a January raid for the 27-year-old.
Chelsea have been poor in the first half of the season, and is expected to bring in some new faces to reinforce the squad this month.
