Chelsea have turned down a transfer enquiry from Atletico Madrid in regards to the availability of star striker Diego Costa, according to reports from the Mirror.
Costa has been linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge the past few months after struggling to replicate the form that helped the Blues win the Premier League title last term.
However, Costa seems to have revived his Chelsea career following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, scoring three goals in his last three games.
His earlier frustrations have made Atletico boss Diego Simeone keen on bringing Costa back to La Liga, but his enquiry has been rejected by the English champions.
Simeone knows that the Blues are interested in Jackson Martinez, who is also having problems of his own since joining Atletico from Porto during the summer.
It is unlikely that Martinez will be allowed leave unless they find an adequate replacement, but it looks as if Costa is staying put.
Last term, Costa, 27, was Chelsea’s top scorer with 20 goals in 37 games.
