Brazilian playmaker Willian has been named as Chelsea’s Player of the Year and also scooped the award voted on by his team-mates, the club’s official website has confirmed.
The Blues have had a 2015-16 to forget, with the reigning champions relinquishing their title with not as much as a whimper.
A host of big-name players have under-performed and the West London club are expected to shake-up their squad when Antonio Conte arrives at Stamford Bridge after the Euro 2016 tournament.
Willian has been one of the few consistent performers for the team and has stood out in a side struggling with confidence issues.
The Brazil international has grown in stature of the last 12 months and has operated both on the right and centrally in attacking midfield roles for the Blues.
Willian has admitted that he is delighted to have received the award and hope to replicate his positive form in 2016-17.
“It was a great season for me and I hope I stay at that level next season and play better game by game,” he said.
“Thanks to the fans for the support and I think next season we will win titles for them.”
