Chelsea set for a summer raid on the Emirates

The Daily Star on Sunday has reported that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich , wants to sign his fellow countryman, Andrey Arshavin, from London rivals Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger is widely expected to wield the axe this summer after yet another trophyless campaign for his Gunners side and the former Zenit St Petersburg could be the first to go. It is reported the deal could cost Chelsea around £15 million, meaning Arsenal would recuperate nearly all the (reported) money they paid for the Russian in 2009.

Should the Russian playmaker leave, Arsenal fans will no doubt remember Arshavin for his four goals he scored against Liverpool.

Arshavin has scored six goals this season and has contributed eleven assists; overall Arshavin has made 105 appearances for the North London outfit in all competitions, scoring 28 goals in the process.
