Chelsea star Diego Costa will not be charged for his alleged bite on Everton’s Gareth Barry, but is still expected to be punished for his behaviour during the FA Cup clash this past weekend, Express reports.
The duo had a bust-up in the last ten minutes of the fixture after Barry fouled the Spain international with his side 2-0 up, and the fracas caused both players to be dismissed from the field.
And during the bust-up, Costa seemed to sink his teeth into the Toffees’ midfielder’s neck, but Barry has come out to confirm that the Blues striker did not bite him in any manner.
“Seen a lot of talk about the incident involving me and Diego Costa in the game last night,” Barry said on social media platform Fanzai.
“For the record, Diego did not bite me.”
However, it seems that the former Atletico Madrid star faces retrospective action for his behaviour when leaving the pitch, in which he seemed to display a V sign after being given his marching orders.
The 27-year-old has made 37 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 15 goals and supplying 10 assists.
