Returning boss Jose Mourinho has hardly used Mata so far this season, fuelling rumours that the playmaker would be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the summer but no deal emerged.
Arsenal and PSG were both heavily linked with the Spaniard who was left out of the national team for last night’s World Cup qualifier with Finland.
With it being a World Cup year, many expected Mata to push through a deal away from West London but the 25 year old is happy to stay and break back into the Blues side where he was so effective last season.
“I think it’s normal in every transfer window that there are lots of rumours but I’m happy here,” he told Chelsea TV.
“It’s been a very, very good two seasons for me here, maybe the best of my career, and what I want this season is the same.
“I’m looking forward to achieving as many trophies as we did the last two seasons and hopefully this is going to be a good season for us again.”
