Chelsea star open to January loan move

Juan Mata

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata is open to a January loan move to save his chances of making Spain’s World Cup squad, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Blues playmaker wants reassurance over his place in Jose Mourinho’s squad after once again starting on the bench as Chelsea thumped West Ham 3-0 at Upton Park.

Mourinho clearly prefers Oscar and Eden Hazard to support the lone striker despite Mata being the West London clubs stand out player last season.

Atletico Madrid, former club Valencia and Juventus are all set to make a move for Mata in the January transfer window but the 25 year old does not want to leave Stamford Bridge permanently, with a loan deal the most likely outcome.

Whether Mourinho and Chelsea will accept such a deal is another story though with games coming thick and fast in the New Year with the Blues possible still going for four trophies in the second half of the season.

Mata is desperate to go to Brazil with the Spain squad at the end of the season but he knows his chances of that are diminishing by the week with him warming the bench.
