Chelsea star Willian has revealed that the side were happy with their draw against Newcastle United during the weekend after coming back from two goals down to finish the game 2-2, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The champions were favourites to beat a struggling Newcastle side following their 2-0 victory over Arsenal last weekend, but were shocked when the Magpies went two up with goals from Ayoze Perez and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Luckily the Blues staged a late comeback as Ramires scored a thunderbolt before Willian’s free kick saved a point for Jose Mourinho.
They are now eight points behind Manchester United at the top of the table, but Willian claims that the draw was a decent result especially after their much improved second half.
“In the second half we played much better, really well,” he said.
“We scored two goals and it was almost three; if Ramires scored [with a header at 2-2] we win the game.
“In the second half we fought and we tried to play well. Of course we want to win, but one point is good for us.
“Always I try to do my best on the pitch.
“Ramires scored a fantastic goal and we just tried to help the team today. I want to play and give my best for the team.”
Chelsea can however be satisfied that main title-rivals Manchester City suffered a shocking second-straight loss in the English top flight, being ripped apart by Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 at White Hart Lane.
