Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas is set for scans regarding his injured hamstring with Spain, which could anger Blues manager Jose Mourinho, Express reports.
Diego Costa was controversially left out of the Spain national side after Mourinho publically blasted La Furia Roja manager Vincent del Bosque for risking the striker too early after his injuries, and could now be at it again this time over Fabregas.
The midfielder sustained a hamstring problem during their 2-1 victory over Liverpool and initial reports suggest the former Barcelona star could miss up to three weeks of action.
Spain team doctor Oscar Celada said: “We will assess him in the coming hours to see if he can form part of the squad.
“We know Cesc, I’ve known him since he was 16 years old, I know his professionalism and commitment to the national team, but we are still waiting to assess him.”
Spain head coach Del Bosque was however quite calm over the matter, adding he will be thoroughly assessed before a decision to play him is made.
“The most prudent thing is that he sees the Spanish national team medical staff,” he said.
“It’s not a lack of confidence in the medical staff at his club, but after playing 95 minutes this weekend we would like to see him and examine him.”
