Chelsea midfielder Nathanial Chalobah has signed a new five year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The England under-21 star is struggling to break into the first team under Jose Mourinho despite a hugely successful loan spell at Watford last season where the 18 year old helped the Hornets reach the Play Off Final.
Chalobah may be set for another loan deal this season too with the Blues squad already packed with midfield talent; although Chelsea feel the Sierra Leonne-born talent is the long term replacement for Frank Lampard.
The youngster was carried off while playing for England under-21’s earlier this month but is hoping to push his way into the Chelsea first team squad at some point this season.
The new five year deal will keep the Chelsea academy product in West London until 2018 and by then he could be a huge talent in English football.
“I think I have developed a lot as a player but I know I must continue to improve to earn a place in the Chelsea team and with my future settled, I can concentrate on doing that” Chalobah told Chelsea’s official site.
‘Watford was a great experience, I learned about playing in front of a crowd every game and so many other lessons that there are too many to list. Training with Jose Mourinho and the Chelsea squad this pre-season, every session has been different with something new to take on board. I’ve enjoyed it a lot.
‘I would like to thank all the coaches who have helped me throughout my time at Chelsea.’
