Chelsea target is expected to stay in Italy

Roma President is keen to stop Arsenal and Chelsea target Kostas Manolas from leaving the club, reports the Standard.

The Greek international has been heavily linked with a move to London, with both the Blues and the Gunners reportedly keen on making him a Premier League player.

But Roma president James Palotta has questioned the rumours, stating the club want Manolas to stay:

“Why on earth should Manolas leave? Juan Jesus and Nacho are two experienced defenders who are going to help us. The team is working very hard for the Champions League play off stage.”

Italian manager Antonio Conte has started working on his new club now his time with Italy has expired, and is planning his attempts to bring back the Premier League trophy to Stamford Bridge.

With many reports unsure of what formation the Italian will choose, there are expectations that Chelsea will bring in a new centre-back, despite John Terry signing a one-year extension to stay at Stamford Bridge.

And despite the threat of being rivalled for Manolas by neighbours Arsenal, it seems neither club might get the Greek defender after all.
