Chelsea are on the verge of confirming Romelu Lukaku’s return to Stamford Bridge, with The London Evening Standard stating that a £60 million deal with Everton is close to being completed.
The Belgium international is being heavily linked with an exit from the Goodison Park outfit following the club’s failure to land European football.
Lukaku scored 18 Premier League goals last term and continues to be on the most feared centre forwards in English football.
Chelsea allowed the former Anderlecht prodigy to move to Merseyside for £28 million and will have to pay over double that to see him return to West London.
Other English and European clubs have also been linked with Lukaku but at this point, with Diego Costa’s future unclear, the Blues appear the most likely to land the powerful striker this summer.
Everton will be desperate to keep hold off their attacking weapon but a fee in the £60 million range would come as some solace and allow Ronald Koeman to strengthen considerably.
